Sarah

Very sad to say goodbye to Sarah this week, I have loved living with her in the commune. She's a joy; wise, intelligent, intuitive with a fabulous sense of humour and the warmest laugh. She was very sad to leave but oddly I thought this was lovely as it was a sign of her great year in Luang Prabang. Sarah totally immersed herself in life here, she spoke the language, taught English, helped heaps of people, cooked and drank laolao with the locals, read about the history and culture, sharing her knowledge with me and keeping me in check. I loved it when she told the tourists off for not respecting the culture with their hot pants and stringy tops and most of all I loved listening to Sarah's reflections on her daily interactions and our place in the world. Sarah is a top babe with a huge heart. I'm looking forward to marking the essay I set her, a one pager on what Laos has taught her!
