one day you're teaching basic greetings in English, the next poetry.
during class this week one student asked what poetry meant, i thought best way to explain is by doing so suggested everyone write a poem about Laos.
the first line beginning with L, the second A, next O and the S line could be the same in each verse.
There were lots of warm adjectives about 'smiley, happy people, good-heartedness, the beautiful scenery, the traditions', i was writing their poems on the board saying 'ah, that's lovely' and then one students' S line was 'some foreigners want to destroy our culture'
crickey, ooh, shall i leave right now
i said 'i've come to try to help and to learn about your culture'
And while most were focusing on Laos another student seems to be a little heartbroken
