Adam and I went on a beautiful bike ride in Chomphet.
A very early start 5.45 am! to avoid the heat but time for a coffee before the ferry to the wild west, Chomphet! What a contrast to Luang Prabang just meters across the Mekong; no tarmac, no tourists, no traffic, bliss and the same calm, gentle, happy locals. Stunning scenery, undulating hills, too many undulations, I whimpered far out quite a bit, my thighs were burning! got off and pushed a few times, sweated heaps.
Loved stopping at the villages to buy drinks and check the map with the locals. At one stop I think we were being asked to help a young mum buy food for her baby, the shop had lots of unhealthy snacks and I wanted to get them something nutritious, found her some eggs. Loved bumping into a group of machette weilding men and the highlight was our encounter with 2 elephants, not your ordinary Sunday morning!
50 Km later we were back in Luangers by 11.30 full of achievement and ready for another coffee and breaky!
Andi would like to do this with you I think! The girls and I will just get a facial and pedicure I think ;)
